Mrs. Sarah Alice Large Mathis, age 93, of Cosby, passed away Wednesday morning, December 14, 2022 at her home. She was preceded in death by her grandson Carl Peter Mathis; daughter-in-law Beverly Mathis; parents James Hollis and Rachel Large; sister, Betty Jo Garnes and brothers, Duane C. Large and Howard Large. Survivors include her husband Graydon Mathis of the home; sons James Ralph Mathis of Powell, TN, Terry Lynn (Sherry) Mathis of Cleveland OH, and Jerry (Beverly) Mathis of Edmonton Alberta, Canada; 5 grandchildren. Additional survivors include great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in the Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large and Rev. Danny Green officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Tritt Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home prior to the service.
