Mr. John Willard Shelton, age 82, of Greeneville, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2022 at Greeneville Community East Hospital. Mr. Shelton retired from Crete Carrier Corporation. He was a family man who enjoyed family vacations and spending time with his grandchildren and he will be deeply missed.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty seven years Betty Jo Shelton; parents Claude and Pearl Shelton; sisters Shirley Hensley and Patsy Shelton and brother Lindy Shelton.Survivors include his sons John (Lori) Shelton and Jeff (Pamela) Shelton and a special Daddy's girl Julia Shelton (Robbie) Britton; grandchildren Joshua Shelton, Spencer Shelton, Maddie McCullough, Emily McCullough, John Lucas Britton and Levi Britton all of Greeneville and sister Claudine Franklin of Marshall, North Carolina.The funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, August 3, 2022 in Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duane Stills officiating. Clint McCullough, Eddie Waddell, Joshua Shelton, Mason Parker, Dolan Arbogast will serve as pallbearers and Spencer Shelton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Doughty-Stevens prior to the service.Family and friends will meet 10:15 a.m. Thursday morning, August 4, 2022 at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery for the 10:30 a.m. interment. Please enter the cemetery through the Vann Road entrance. Military honors will be provided by Newport American Legion Post 41.In consideration of the health and safety of all those attending services, Costner-Maloy strongly encourages that all CDC guidelines be followed, including the use of face mask.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Costner-Maloy

I worked at Crete with John and he was a good guy. Good boss and a good friend to our family. So sorry to hear he has passed. Thoughts and prayers are with you all Julia, John and Jeff. He loved you all, never a doubt about that.
