Mr. James David Worthington

Mr. James David Worthington, age 66, of Newport, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 18, 2023 at Newport Medical Center. He loved cooking, Rock-N-Roll music, building and painting model cars, vintage cars, with his favorite car being a 1965 Pontiac Catalina. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his niece Hayle, who he loved with all of his heart. His main concern was to see that she was taken care of and that she would grow to become an independent woman, able to care for herself. David was a kind, caring, selfless and hardworking man that always attempted to take care of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Alene and J.D. Worthington and a brother Richard Worthington; Survivors include his nieces Hayle Arwood (Jose Balderas) and Sarah Waldroup all of Newport; cousins Amy Anderson and Skylar Gulley both of Asheville, NC, and Scott Douglas of Cleveland, OH. Additional survivors include special friends Barbara Large, Lois Wilson, Conway Wilson, Jennifer Hurst, Jessie Worthington, Jimmy Worthington, Kelly Waldroup and Michael Waldroup. No funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home.Read Obituary

I have known David for many years. He was a fine man and wonderful cook. He loved his family and when I saw him he would speak of the love he had for his family. Rest in peace young man.
