Del Rio and Cocke County just lost a valuable resource and friend. I don't think Jim ever met anyone who wasn't his friend. And, if you talked long enough you'd probably find out you were kin, for he knew the genealogy of about everyone in the county whose ancestors were here in the 19th century. I was amazed at his memory of historical details. I'm sure he must have had a photographic memory. He seemed to remember everything he ever read or saw. As a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Maj. James T. Huff Camp 2243, he was a great asset in finding the graves of Confederate veterans in Cocke County. I have fond memories of going with him to find and decorate these graves. I think every time we were together, Jim would tell me, "you are one of my best friends." Farewell, friend, until we meet again. You will be extremely missed. But I know you are with our master, who you so greatly loved and served.
