Mrs. Ina Carol Strange

Mrs. Carol Strange, age 85, of Newport, passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2023 at her home. She was a member of Stokely’s Chapel Baptist Church, who loved her church and church family. She enjoyed growing flowers and plants. She was a seamstress who loved making quilts and clothing for family and friends. She was always the family’s shoulder to lean on. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, CA Strange; daughter Clara Sue Strange; grandchildren “Little David”, Dee, and Andy; parents Cecil and Ina Templin; sister Pearlie Hatcher; brothers Ronald Templin and Eddie Templin and brothers-in-law Carroll Strange, Ed Strange and Namon Strange. Survivors include her daughter Charlotte (Ronnie) Johnson; sons J.C. (Janice) Strange and David (Lynnita) Strange; grandchildren Christy Strump, Tim (Paris) Strange, Tiffany Strange, Cameron McCoig, Jaxson McCoig and Isaiah Strange; great-grandchildren Andrea, Ona, Noah, Paxton, Zach, Logan and Taylor; sister, Sue Buckner and brother, James Templin. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends Blue Welch, Joan (Rick) Willis and Sneb (Misty). The family would like to express a special thank you to Kristin Hickman and Kim Thomas of HealthStar of Newport, and to the staff of Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, March 2, 2023 in the Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William Cheetham officiating. The family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens for the 10:00 a.m. Interment. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Costner-Maloy & Brown Funeral Home prior to the service.
